Linking Experiments (Kallisti)
#14
Jared gave Emily a kiss as she turned away to leave, noting she first went to the pop singer. The two had been needing to meet to discuss the Orphan Project, but it had yet to happen. Between Rachel and Cadence's recording schedule, they both had difficulties setting a time. It didn't surprise Jared she wanted to touch base, even briefly.

Jared turned back to the scans. His scan was overlayed over Nox's and sure enough, there was a difference right at the spot the horde was. It was difficult to tell what though. "Can we separate the scans again and zoom in on this spot." Jared pointed to the place where the discrepancy was.

"I can," a disembodied voice said and did so.

Jared first looked at his - the healthy brain of a channeler. The spot showed what appeared to be a construct of neurons. Then he turned to Nox's, and at this zoom, the difference was obvious. Whereas Jared's was connected, Nox's was not. There was a noticeable cut through one, frayed at the edges. They didn't seem like they would even touch if stretched out.

"There's our hole. Looks like the horde ate through it," Jared said, contemplating. "The gap is enough that I don't think standard healing will do it. We will likely need to try something different. Doesn't mean it can't be healed and that we shouldn't try it the other way. There has to be a way to do it."

Jared's voice held confidence. They knew what the problem was, and that was a big part of figuring out how to finding a solution. Jared wasn't sure what to do here though. Hopefully someone had an idea.
