Dead Weight (Pestovo Country Club)

Jared took Luc’s hand and shook it in a strong grip before the stranger spoke up. His comment brought a smile to Jared’s face. Emily was a smart woman, and rather intuitive, especially when it came to him and their relationship. She also probably was tired of him hovering over her with the pregnancy. ”Yeah - she is a smart one.”

Luc mentioned a match, so he had obviously seen the other man fight or something. He was built like one, and Jared would occasionally watch fights, but it had been sometime since he had, but the stranger looked familiar even if Jared couldn’t place him yet.

A second round came out along with a message that the storm would leave them here. Luc responded with an expletive. It wasn’t ideal for sure. Jared took another pull from his scotch. ”Excise me for a moment, gents. Better let the wife know or she’ll think I’ve got a girlfriend.” He smirked. Emily wouldn’t think that.

Jared stepped away and pulled out his wallet. Emily answered after a couple of rings. ”Hey - so I’m stuck here for the foreseeable future. Weather is pretty bad apparently.” he looked out a window of the club and confirmed it.

”Yeah - it’s pretty bad out. Glad you’re staying there where it’s safe. I do wish you were here though. I didn’t expect this or I wouldn’t have suggested you go out.”

”Willl you all be fine.”

”We’re well stocked here. Should be okay.”

The conversation continued for a little longer before Jared returned to the bar. Jared looked at the stranger who had interjected. ”Luc here mentioned your last match. You a martial artist?”
