After starting the coffee maker, she leaned against the counter and glanced from Ivan to the news display. “I don’t know if they will be saying anything, I was just curious, but I did see something Ivan. I’m not crazy.”
Her tone was serious for a moment before becoming light hearted once more. “And what do you mean they don’t report every fight? Last night was worth an entire investigative team, on scene, I’ll have you know.”
Zoya wasn’t sure why it bothered her that Ivan may not have believed her story, but deep down inside, the idea unsettled her. She hadn’t imagined it, she was sure of that. Yet, she was also very aware of how absurd the whole thing sounded. Turning to grab the creamer from the fridge she pushed that line of thinking out of her head. “My coffee doesn’t have eggshells. It isn’t compost.”
When the brew was done, she poured some of the liquid in their mugs and placed one in front of him. To her cup she added the creamer and sugar before taking a sip. Later, she would have to call the man that helped her at the bar to get her car back, but for now all she wanted was to enjoy her coffee and forget her headache.
