Apostolic Journey
#12
Theron’s statement unsettled him far more than Brandon’s. Not because it was blasphemous. Because it was so careful.

He expected arrogance and open claims of divinity. He expected spectacle. Instead he heard: Responsibility. Moral formation. Servants. Community.

That was ecclesial church language.

He wondered who wrote the Luminar’s speech. Or worse, if he was sincere. He made a note to learn more about the background of this Luminar.

Theron did not claim godhood. He did not overtly name Ascendancy as God, nor even reject any God. He framed the Brotherhood as structure, as guidance for the gifted. That made them harder to condemn. The work of channelers was real, but if it is not demonic or illusions, then suppressing them would be injustice.

He also noticed something else: Theron did not challenge the Pope. He did not compete for spiritual supremacy. He asked only that reality be named honestly. That placed Philip in a moral quandary. Because if he denied what was evident, he became the one resisting truth.

Theron was gathering power, structure, and becoming a church. But there cannot be two Churches.
