A Late Dinner
#5
Claude listened to her responses, understanding all of them. They had both said what they had needed to say, but it wasn’t until the par on his arm that he realized he had really needed some validation on that tonight. It was just a moment where something had solidified that he wasn’t alone in all of this.

He could see her exhaustion as she stood and he stood as well. He didn’t wish her goodnight right away. He walked up and gave her a hug and spoke quietly. ”Thank you, Nora. For everything,” she knew he struggled with identity. This whole channeling situation hadn’t helped, but she had always been there when he had needed strength. He had tried to return that. ”Promise me you’ll be careful around the crazies.”

Claude gave her one more squeeze before he let go. ”Goodnight,” he said, giving her space. ”See you tomorrow - and remember that I’m here if you need me.”
