He drew a breath to steady himself. He'd never felt more lost than in this moment.
"Yes," was all he replied. He held onto her as he had before and let his awareness pull him back to the location of his physical body. When he opened his eyes, they were in a desolate, permanently snow-covered landscape. A series of old buildings were nearby. It was obvious there was no other life. "There are no wolves here. Not in the dream nor awake. I can't sense them anywhere in the world. It's like we left Earth itself."
"I've been all over the interior of those buildings. I can't find any clue as to our actual location. There are no communication devices that aren't decades broken. No maps. No hints of anything. All we know is we went into the lake, found a bizarre cave full of equipment, and when we came out, it was to a completely different world." He pointed toward a nearby cliff. "We exited a cave from that direction, and found these buildings. But the cave was full of lava and heat, volcanic sourced I imagine."
He stretched his senses again, seeking the wolves, but nothing. It was remarkable that Sierra heard him at all. Perhaps their connection was far deeper than he ever imagined before.
