Grace was feeling better than she had felt in days. The time surrounding the annexation of Texas and Central America in the CCD was a time of chaos and uncertainty in the States. Add to that the assassination of the President and Vice President simultaneously and tensions were high. Under normal circumstances, Grace was able to keep the flood of emotions behind her mental barriers. These weren’t normal circumstances. Even with her mental defenses, the uncertainty, chaos, and fear were seeping in. It was difficult to ignore and for the first time in years, Grace was feeling overwhelmed. It was enough to make her want to leave. There wasn’t really anything for her here anymore.
Tonight had been a reprieve though. The New Year was an excuse for many to forget their troubles, and if they couldn’t, they had alcohol to help. Grace felt like she could breathe again, and it meant she had actually enjoyed working tonight.
She wore the black and white uniform of a server, and her hair was tied back in a pony tail. She carried a tray and was picking up mostly empty champagne glasses. The new year had begun, and the party would begin to wind down. A few stragglers would want another drink or something, but for the most part, they were on cleanup duty now.
Grace thought she had saw Eve here. Eve would be here, but she was likely working as much as celebrating too. Grace hadn’t had the time to seek her out. Grace had confided in her that she was unhappy here. That was a big step for her. She hoped she could find someplace to go. Maybe Moscow - then she wouldn’t feel Eve’s loss so much. She sighed as she began to pick up more glasses.
[[OoC: don’t feel obligated to interact with Grace. I’m just trying to get into her voice a bit :-) ]]
