Ezvin's presence always seemed to be comforting. She appreciated it, and when he spoke, his words were earnest, and she couldn't detect a lie in his face. Ezvin had told her that he was bad at the long game. That wasn't something someone lied about. She was sure there were those in his position who would lie about it to get what they want in the short run. He'd been up front about it. Maybe that had endeared him to her more. When he spoke he met her gaze. She felt he was speaking truth.
Cadence liked Ezvin, so it was hard to avoid the slight disappointment that came to her eyes, but her smile was still genuine. She understood his dismissal and appreciated the reason for it. He was tempted to accept her offer. He admitted as much. Honestly, she could probably push more, but she did not. He didn't want to rush, but his last sentence made her wonder if he wanted her to find someone else. She deserved something real - did that mean he needed more time - or that he wasn't right for her. She would think on that.
"Okay. I'm good with that. Thank you for saying that." she said, her voice as genuine as always. As someone who had trouble interpreting social cues, it actually felt good that he wanted to be slow. He wasn't taking advantage of her and her naivete. She turned her head as her ride arrived and then turned back to Ezvin. "Ride's here. Thank you again - for everything," her words referred not only to him bringing her here, but his honesty with her since her arrival and to her departure. "Have a good night and a good rest of your weekend. I'll see you Monday - be prepared - I expect it's going to be a busy one."
Cadence gave him one last hug before she went to the vehicle. She turned to wave as she got in and then gave the driver her address. Her fingers itched to play piano and words were stirring in her head. Perhaps a new song would come out tonight.
