Rachel could usually feel when it was coming. It would start with the fear, ever present in her mind, beginning to build lightly. With that came arousal - an arousal that no one could take away. No one except a man that was dead. His name would be in her mind throughout the entire process - her mind fixated on what it craved and needed. The drug that she couldn't have. The other symptoms, shaking and feeling cold, would come later.
Rachel knew these symptoms and could sometimes act to alleviate them a little bit. If not, others knew how to help her - Emily, Jared, and thankfully Elyse. Usually Rachel's actions were simply to get to bed and let it pass. Sometimes she'd use a song if it was really bad. Emily or Jared would usually sit with her then. Helping her through the fight against her addiction. But now, she only had time to do one thing.
"You need to take her," Rachel said, voice trembling as she handed Lily back to Liam.
"She's starting to have withdrawals," Rachel heard Elyse explain. "I got her. Sky, let Jared know that Rachel is having withdrawals. I'm taking her to the bedroom in the basement, and I'm with her."
Rachel felt the panic beginning to rise within her. Someone began to guide her somewhere, but she pulled back. She needed to find Lucio. "Luc... the word was cut off as a song began to play in her ears, and suddenly, Rachel felt calm.
Rachel looked and saw Elyse there, holding her hands and pulling gently. Rachel followed then and was lead into a bedroom. Rachel lay on the bed and was covered with a blanket and she felt Elyse climb in beside her and wrap an arm around her. The song stopped and the symptoms came back. Rachel began to shake and despite the blanket felt cold. "Lucio...I need him..." the words came out in a whisper.
"It's okay...I've got you. You're safe here. We'll make it through this." Elyse said softly to her in an attempt to comfort Rachel. Rachel didn't believe her.
