After Matias left, Jay balled up his throbbing hand and shook out the pain amid a string of muttered curses. He always regretted punching walls. It never made him feel better and the knuckle cracks weren’t worth it, but he supposed it was better than the alternative. He was on his feet by then, pacing and muttering to himself about all this bullshit never ending.
Eventually he looked to see if Morven had it in her mercy to douse him with another bucket of healing, but the look in her eye said he deserved what he got. “Alright, alright, don’t look at me that way. Just be glad you’re not washing viscera out of your hair tonight.” A smirk accompanied it as he imagined her fingers scrubbing her thick mane.
He took the lull of the moment to send Natalie a message, suggesting that everything was fine, and asked if she had any painkillers at her place.
