Lucien turned down Anton's offer of a hand with a simple show of his own gloves. Anton responded in kind, showing that he understood. It seemed as if the librarian also did not like to make contact with others. It led Anton to believe that Lucien had his own ability, though he doubted he was a Sentient. Surely the Luminar would have known of his kind otherwise. There was obviously a trust between Luminar and Librarian.
Anton found himself liking the poetic way that Theron spoke. Theron spoke with a rhythmic cadence that few priests could do well. Anton could see why people were drawn to the religion. It's leader was charismatic, and his voice, even without shouting, commanded attention. It made the listener pay attention to every word and syllable and pulled you in to contemplated the importance of each one.
Anton listened with rapt attention, feeling the waves of intrigue and curiosity coming off of the Luminar, and as he listened, he contemplated the meaning of his words. The words spoken took his own story and gave it shape. Anton could tell the Luminar was investigating this. He was very intrigued by Anton's story, and Anton wondered how his random trip to the Sanctuary of the Ascendant Flame would change this Brotherhood. He had a feeling that this one of those pivotal moments in the young religion's history.
The Luminar finished and for a moment silenced reigned in the Sanctum of Reflection, the mood reflecting the very name of the library itself. Anton sensed this was a reverent moment, and so when he spoke, he spoke in a quiet and respectful manner, turning first to the Luminar.
"If I may, I would like to share my experience with Mr. Octavius - for further context." Anton waited until the Luminar gave permission before turning to Lucien.
"Today I came here seeking something. To be honest, I'm still not sure what, but it was in the Chamber of Echoes that I had a...unique experience," Anton was surprised to find himself not nervous at sharing this. "I began to see images. 'Memories, but not my own.' was how I described them to the Luminar because they were more than images. I not only saw what he saw, but I felt what he felt. What the Veil showed me, was the journey of the Greek hero Orpheus from the death of his wife to his own death. The death of Eurydice, his journey into the underworld, crossing the river Styx, his bargain with Hades, his moment of doubt, and finally his murder." Anton turned briefly towards Theron, acknowledging his words. "I used the word memories because I had no other word for it. The Luminar said "I became the man." This is probably a more apt description."
Anton once again faced Lucien more fully, and gave a slight smile. "Sorry, I'm very talkative right now, but I feel you should know more. I, as far as I know, cannot veilwalk. I do, however, have a different set of abilities. I can feel the emotions of those around me. If I touch them," he raised his black-gloved hands. "I feel their emotions even more strongly, and can even push their emotions to what I want them to be. I do wonder if perhaps my unique reaction to the Chamber I'd partially due to my unique abilities."
Anton quieted saying all he needed to say. He knew little of the Brotherhood at this point and little of their teachings, but he wanted to learn. He had come here for a purpose, and was beginning to find out what that purpose was.
