Danika held the new rings delicately between her fingers, her expression softening as she turned them over in the light. They were crude, just paperclips twisted into circles, but there was something in the pattern he’d woven. Not symmetry exactly, but rhythm. Purpose.
Her brow furrowed, eyes narrowing as she held one ring in front of the hologram, just like before. The projection shimmered faintly at the edges, the distortion more subtle this time, more... refined.
“You are showing me,” she said, barely above a whisper.
She looked up at him then, eyes shining. Not with understanding yet, but recognition. “It’s not math, but it’s something. Pattern. Form. Intent.” Her fingers danced lightly over the rings, already turning toward the console. “It’s like you’re building with intuition what I’ve been trying to brute-force with equations.”
She smiled, quick, bright, rare. “Keep doing that. I think your hands know something my numbers don’t. Maybe if I could...” Her brows furrowed in deep thought, staring at the paperclips as if she could see the atoms dancing between them. Maybe she could...
