Ignis Caleum
Ignis could now feel her in his head - a bundle of emotions kept well in check. Chief among them was a distinct feeling of joy. Kira was happy with this arrangement. She was glad that he had accepted her offer. Kira had offered him a chance to rebuild his honor and he had taken it, but it had been more than that. Kira inspired him to be better. It was just something that he had felt when traveling with her and it had been cemented when she had sang to the sick child. Understanding hit him then. The child hadn't needed the wisdom because Kira, an Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah, had healed the chid's illness. He felt his respect for Kira grow.
Her emotions changed from joy to curious amusement and he looked at her. She gave him a smirk. "This will take some getting used to. I probably should have warned you about that effect of the bond. I did not mean to leave it out. I just didn't think of it."
Ignis nodded. "Agreed - and no apologies necessary, Kira Sedai."
They continued walking and Kira spoke to him softly. "In public, it is probably best to refer to me with the honorific, but in general, you can just call me Kira. You are not my servant. You should address other Aes Sedai with he honorific, and if you don't know their name, Aes Sedai. Unless you meet the Amyrlin Seat - you will call her Mother. Keep in mind that here, I have an image to maintain at all times. Tower politics is a sort of game - and you're playing whether you like to or not. All your actions will reflect on me. It's stupid, but it's true."
Ignis nodded. "Like the Great Game," Ignis said, but he kept his calm. Political games were really stupid.
"I need to meet with the head of my Ajah. This place feels - different from the last time I was here," she said as he felt apprehension in the bond.
The apprehension turned to happiness as an older man approached them. "Kira Sedai," he said as he got closer. Ignis noticed he wore the hadori of a Malkieri.
"Shiro!" Kira said and gave him a quick hug. "It is so good to see you."
"I trust your quest went well," Shiro said, breaking off their hug.
"It did," she gestured towards Ignis. "Shiro, may I introduce you to Ignis Caleum, my Warder. Ignis, this is Shiro Akagima, Warder to another Yellow and a good friend."
Shiro's turned towards him and Ignis could tell the man was assessing him - looking at everything including his stance and the two swords on his back. Ignis returned that. It was a thing soldiers did. Shiro offered his hand and they clasped forearms in greeting. "A pleasure, Ignis Caleum. It has been long since I've had the pleasure of sparring with someone from Arafel," he pointed at the two swords. "Would you honor me with a spar?
Ignis looked to Kira, the question in his eyes. She had to meet with the head of the Yellow Ajah. "We have time for this," he said, the bond amused.
When Ignis looked back to Shiro, he saw respect in the older man's eyes for a brief moment. The question hadn't just been for a friendly spar. "It has been long since I've had the honor of sparring with a man who wears the hadori. I would be honored to accept your offer, Shiro Gaidin."
They moved to the practice yard and Shiro picked a practice blade. Ignis grabbed two shorter ones. He was trained with two blades and he was going to take the familiarity they granted him. Shiro moved into Cat Crosses the Courtyard as he went to the other side of practice yard. It was a blatant attempt to put Ignis off his guard and Ignis realized that this was more than a spar. Kira wasn't just an Aes Sedai to Shiro - she was a friend - maybe even a daughter figure. Shiro was testing him - seeing if he had what it takes to be Kira's Warder. Kira took a spot near the fence where she could watch and she was approached by a woman wearing a yellow dress. Ignis guessed this was Shiro's Aes Sedai. Ignis got into a fighting stance and prepared to start.
