Connor was speechless for a moment, the words this guy said ringing in his ear. Rage and grief tore at his heart and he took an imvoluntary step forward, ready to....beat the man to a pulp; ready to grab the man by his shoulders and demand he explain.
Hayden. The name hung in the air, almost visible, not to be ignored. He didn't know if it was seconds or minutes he stood there. Movement from inside the dome finally pierced through the warring emotions that threatened to overwhelm him.
Ayden, trapped and furious. Hayden was gone. His wife was right here. His priority. And yet it took every fiber of his being to speak, to not ask the questions that burned inside him, that made his heart race.
His voice was hoarse as if he had spent the last minutes screaming at the top of his lungs. "Free her. Please." What was done was done. That much was clear.
And just as clear was the fact that more was going on. "Tell me.... he paused and forced himself to focus. "Free her. And explain it. What was this all about? Who was Nox supposed to stop?
He looked at Ayden, concerned. She was angry, that was obvious. And he'd be willing to bet it was about a lot of things, not just the bubble she was in. He knew because it was needling at him too.
This felt like a set up, like they had been used. And that pissed him off too.
