Rena lost herself in the music and the dance. The three of them seemed to meld together in the darkness amid flashing lights. She was reminded of images she'd seen of snakes, intertwined, impossible to tell one from the other as they constantly shifted and twisted and turned.
The flashes of colored light amid darkness played across faces as Sámiel transformed into Luna then morphed into both of them. At one point, Luna held a small piece of paper out, an offering. Through the flickering lights and thrumming base, Rena felt a spark of hunger leap from the other woman. She felt Sámiel behind her, enveloped by him, her dark angel, with black leathery wings wrapping her. She gave in to the Ecstasy (she assumed) and opened her mouth to receive the communion.
It hit instantly, pulling her mind up through her skull into the universe. Her surroundings hadn't changed, but her awareness had. She felt like she was everywhere at once, beside, behind, in front, and in between. Time seemed to stretch out infinitely, only to be sliced into miniscule chunks, each one its own lifetime with little overlap or memory to the next.
Beat. She was seeing Sámiel's beautiful smile in front of her and wondered at the joy he seemed to feel.
Beat. She was looking at Sámiel's eyes as he gazed at her, all the while wondering at what she had just been thinking. For some reason, she couldn't remember what it was.
Beat. It was dark and she struggled to remember if it had always been so. She realized it was quiet too and could not remember if that had also been the case. Despite that, she realized that she was still dancing, she and Sámiel and Luna.
Beat. It was dark and quiet and Rena was dancing and found herself wondering when it had become so. She still felt the rhythm despite the silence. All three of them lost and enjoying themselves.
Beat. Beat. Beat. An infinite chain of infinitesimal moments in time, disconnected despite the bleed over.
She lost herself as if in a trance, felt herself falling into her body, aware of every part, the tips of her fingers, the tops of her ears, the back of her neck, the small of her back, the ditch behind her knee, floor of her pelvis, the tip of her clit, the breath on her neck, the smell in her nose, the taste on her lips, body and sensation merging into one until she was what she felt, she was her hunger and desire and fear and love and sex and rage and power.
Power. She felt it flickering, a warmth that wanted to fill her and she craved to be filled, penetrated and inhabited.
Rena surrendered and the flowing river of sun coursed through her, electrifying every nerve that was already on fire.
Rena felt like she was glowing. She did not know if anyone else could see it. They must. Surely.
Beat. Rena reached out to Sámiel and Luna with the warmth inside her, unsure what it was she was doing.
