WoT on Prime episode 5 SPOILERS

Generally each episode I like better than the last.  

I liked Loial - the wife and I thought it was funny that he seemed to think Nynaeve was the girl Rand was speaking of.  We also liked how he kept rambling in the background when Nynaeve, Rand, and Mat were talking.  Also - he had sausage fingers - so they did that part right in costuming.  Don't be hasty - I think Loial will grow on us as he did in the books.

That being said, this episode is depressing and rightly so I think.  I think they're digging deeper into the bond and it's effect on both parties as shown by Stepin's depression/suicide and Moiraine feeling Lan's pain as he grieved.  The whole funeral scene was quite intense.

Those of you who know my love for wolfkin will likely know how stoked I was to see goldeneyes!!!! Wolves!!!!

The guy who plays Valda has the creepy factor down pat.

I think you are right about Loial. At the moment I like his portrayal more than I like his costume.

I adore the wolfkin too but I've found those parts a little underwhelming so far, even this episode. Part of that might be that Perrin and Egwene's scenes have either been weaker (in comparison to things other characters are doing in the same episode) or that they just don't get the same narrative focus. Rand and Mat had Breen Springs, but Perrin and Egwene haven't had anything standout really, just lots of setup and worldbuilding. I thought the Whitecloak encounter would be Perrin's moment, but that definitely wasn't the focus of the episode today, or even of those scenes; Egwene was the focus. The torture scenes were intense but their escape felt a bit meh, it was too rushed -- the wolves were there and then they were just running. Perhaps we'll see a little more at the beginning of the next episode, since Valda is unlikely to let the abomination go. At the moment i feel like Perrin and the wolves have lost something in Elyas's absence. It wasn't even one of the changes I was bothered about but I wonder if it's been detrimental to the pacing. Perrin was my favourite character in the books but he's not in the show. The actor is great, he just hasn't had any of the story yet. Other than killing his wife.

I wonder how they will plan to travel the rest of the way to Tar Valon now. Surely sticking with the tinkers will put them far too much at risk.

Also, where is Bela?!

As a general aside, I keep mixing up Stepin and Maksim's character names. I've no idea why. But in my original post, everywhere I've used "Maksim" I do actually mean Stepin >_<
