The child too, scurrying fast, hands squeaking against the mirrors as he sought the path through, smearing his reflection. Already she could not distinguish the dozens of images of him from the truth.
Her chin tilted up, searching the shadows. She tapped the glass in front of her, watching her reflection perform the same. Again and again like a ripple.
